Set a budget, and make a list of priorities. You can always add to your budget if high-priority items require it — and you can afford it.
Be flexible. Especially when it comes to project timetable and completion. "Things will go wrong. Expect things to go wrong," he said. "Don't start a project thinking you have to get it done by a set date. A flexible schedule makes the process less stressful."
Incorporate things you love, such as distinctive art and craft pieces. "You can find things that are inexpensive," he said. "We didn't have any money when we started buying art. It's fun."
