James Cameron and Kathryn Bigelow, former husband and wife, among DGA nominees

"Avatar," "Hurt Locker" filmmakers are both nominated for directing awards

Kathryn Bigelow ("The Hurt Locker"), James Cameron ("Avatar"), Lee Daniels ("Precious"), Jason Reitman ("Up in the Air") and Quentin Tarantino ("Inglourious Basterds") were nominated Thursday morning for the 62nd annual Directors Guild of America Award.

Bigelow continues a strong awards season thus far , She also scored a Golden Globe director nomination alongside ex-husband Cameron.

"The Hurt Locker ," popular this week with the LA and New York critics groups, will vie for the Golden Globes' best drama with "Up In The Air," "Inglourious Basterds," "Precious" and "Avatar," all of which are shoo-ins for slots in the 10-way Academy Awards best picture race.

The 67th Golden Globes take place on January 17. The DGA winner will be announced Jan. 30.
