KINGSTON, Jamaica — Police in Jamaica are awaiting forensic results to determine if a body found in the capital is that of a missing Roman Catholic priest.

The Rev. Charles Brown was reported missing last week and his car was found abandoned. A missing person alert was issued by police on Thursday.

Police on Tuesday found a decomposing body in the Plantation Heights area. Forensic experts are trying to determine if it's of the 71-year-old Jamaican priest.

Police say there are "indications that the search for the missing priest might have come to a tragic end." They say they are searching for suspects.

The Rev. Donald Chambers is a colleague of Brown's in the Archdiocese of Kingston. He says Brown attended a Wednesday night church meeting and was last seen by a nun.
