Hawaii Five-0 is coming back. Any chance someone will call it a reboot, and someone else will say it's darker or grittier? Let's go to the BBC:

Check! But is grittier?

Watch for Kono, who underwent a startling sex change, and see if you agree with me: the version of the theme sounds horrible.

Chin Ho, a rather portly character in the original, will be played vie Daniel Dae Kim, aka "Jin from Lost." But there's more: Jalopnik says this is McGarrett's car: a 1974 Mercury Marquis. Hey, you're thinking: didn't McGarrett drive one of those in the original series? He did indeed. Although not until 1973. The Marquis used in the remake isn't just an homage, it's the same car. According to a story in the Honolulu Advertiser (hit the link while it's up; the paper's folding)

This doesn't mean the show takes place in 1974: the Steve McGarrett is Steve McGarrett Junior, who steps into his father's shoes in modern-day Hawaii. Whether the car comes back possessed, like Christine, or in the form of a kvetching parent, like "My Mother the Car," we shall see.

Just so you know: they've tried this before. This is not a fake. This is from 1998.
