Izzy's pulls 3 ice cream flavors after glass discovery

January 1, 2013 at 1:55AM

St. Paul-based Izzy's Ice Cream is pulling three of its flavors from shelves after discovering a shard of glass in a supplier's container of cinnamon.

The glass was discovered at the Izzy's plant and hasn't turned up in any retail products. The same cinnamon was used to make ice cream for several days, however, so the company is withdrawing the product as a precaution.

The affected flavors -- Soy (Non-Dairy) Pumpkin, Pumpkin and Cinnamon -- were available at Kowalski's, Izzy's Ice Cream Cafe, as well as at some co-ops and restaurants, and was sold between Nov. 7 and Dec. 31. The company said the affected lots begin with the numbers 1211 or 1212.

Consumers who bought this ice cream can discard it or return it for a full refund. They can call 651-603-5081 with questions and concerns.
