Steamy heat on Monday will lead to far-reaching discomfort and even potentialhealth threat over a wide area centered upon the South.Widespread readings reaching well into the 90s will team with the muggyhumidity to make it feel like 100 F to 110 F throughout the Deep South and theSoutheast during the mid-day through the mid-afternoon on Monday.

Even as far north as Louisville and Washington, D.C., it will seem as hot as100 degrees.

Heat exhaustion can overtake a person exposed to such a combination of heat andhumidity, so care is advised for anyone spending time outdoors during the heatof the day.

Precautionary steps include drinking of water, avoiding direct sunshine andtaking indoor breaks, if possible. Light colored, loose-fitting clothes canhelp.
