Tom Kelly's No. 10 has been painted in the middle of the coaches boxes at first and third base, as the Twins are set to honor their former manager by retiring his number.

Cole De Vries is on the mound tonight for the Twins. Talked with a National League scout who agreed with my comparison of De Vries to Paul Byrd. De Vries has proven to be fairly crafty during his stint with the Twins.

Josh Willingham is one of only four players in baseball with at least 100 RBI, joining Miguel Cabrera, Josh Hamilton and Ryan Braun.

GCL Twins outfielder Jeremias Pineda was named to the 2012 GCL All-Star team and won league MVP honors. Pineda hit .365 with nine doubles, four triples, one home run, 25 rbi and 23 stolen bases in 52 games - a chunk of them with the GCL Red Sox before he was traded for Danny Valencia. At age 21 going on 22, he should dominate a rookie league like the GCL..

Infielder Anderlin Mejia of the CGL Twins also was named to the All-Star team after batting .324 with one home run and 20 RBI.

The Twins are sticking with a six-man rotation, as Liam Hendriks has been named the starter on Thursday against Kansas City.

Denard Span took pre-game batting practice with the team and all indications are that it went well. So there's a chance that Span will be actived once his time on the 15-day disabled list is up on Wedneday.
