One of Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve's jobs today was to keep an even keel in the face of a potential postponement of Minnesota's game with Atlanta.
A water main near Target Center burst today, early this morning, as you probably already know, knocking out water service to the arena. The Lynx went about their shootaround as normal, and spent the day assuming the game would go on as planned. But the water didn't officially come on until just before 6 p.m.
Here are some thoughts, pre-game:
--The Dream will be without top backup guard Tiffany Hayes. The team announced that Hayes has already had surgery to repair a torn meniscus in her left knee. Hayes played in Atlanta's last game, which was June 30.
--Lynx star Seimone Augustus (left ankle sprain) is out, and will watch the game from the bench, her left ankle in a boot.
--Look for rookie Rachel Jarry to perhaps get some extra playing time tonight. Jarry, a member of the Australian Olympic team in London last summer, got some experience defending Dream star Angel McCoughtry, who was playing for the U.S. team. "She has a great deal of confidence in that area," Reeve said of Jarry. "So we'll see what's needed."
If the Lynx need scoring off the bench, rookie Sugar Rodgers will get some extra minutes. If the Lynx need defensive held, especially on McCoughtry, Jarry could get the call.
