The Minnesota Comprehensive Health Association is a subsidized high-risk pool started in 1976 for those denied health coverage by private insurers. MCHA had 28,386 enrollees as of June. The top five reasons people are rejected by private insurers and go to MCHA are:

• Height and weight

• Mental health condition

• Hypertension

• Diabetes

• Cardiovascular disease
