A bicyclist who was run over by a car on a bridge above the Mississippi River in Minneapolis has died, authorities said.

Caryl A. Johnson, 50, of Minneapolis, died June 28, nine days after a car hit her on the Broadway Avenue Bridge north of downtown, the Hennepin County medical examiner's office said Tuesday.

The driver, a woman from St. Paul, stopped at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement, police said. Her identity has yet to be released.

Police have yet to release any details about the driver who struck Johnson shortly after 1 p.m. or the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Johnson was run over shortly after 1 p.m. a few blocks short of her North Side apartment "while riding her bicycle home from church," read a posting from friends and relatives on her Facebook page.

"The Elim Baptist Church became her home and its members her family," the note continued.

Baptized at age 47, Johnson "found her calling in volunteering at Hope Ave's homeless clothing closet" at the church, the note said.

Johnson is survived by her parents, two brothers, three children and four grandchildren. Services for Johnson are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at Elim Baptist Church, 685 13th Av. NE., Minneapolis.
