Buffalo Wild Wings' Sally Smith has been named one of CNN Money's Top Ten CEOs of the year.

Smith, longtime CEO of Golden Valley-based Buffalo Wild Wings, placed 8th on a list topped by Apple's Tim Cook.

CNN Money gave Smith kudos for bringing more technology to the Golden Valley-based restaurant chain.

"There's nothing inherently innovative about serving beer and bar food to sports fans," CNN Money said. "But . . . Smith has embraced tech more than most other casual dining chains."

Wild Wings is letting customers place orders on tablets, which it says will increase efficiency and increase tips for wait staff, too, since customers will be happier.

Wild Wings also did big business during the 2014 World Cup, CNN pointed out.

The company's stock is up about 22 percent over a year ago, ahead of the broad stock market.
