In response to a complaint filed by the Fourth Congressional District Republican Party, State Senator Susan Kent (DFL-Woodbury) has filed numerous amended reports with the Campaign Finance and Public Disclosure Board.

Jim Carson, the chair of the Fourth Congressional District Republican Party, filed a complaint two weeks ago about a debt from Kent's 2012 campaign. Carson alleged a $35,000 debt to a printer for campaign literature for Kent's campaign "disappeared from the 2013 report without any explanation."

Kent's campaign filed three amended year-end reports for 2012, 2013, and 2014. The amended reports show a dramatic change in the ending cash balance of Kent's committee for 2014 - from $40,854.61 to $9,629.39.

In response to the new filings by Kent's campaign, Carson said "the amended reports show a substantial and material misrepresentation of Kent's campaign's finances."

Kent has disputed the allegations made in the complaint and last week described the confusion over the payment to the printer as a "data entry issue." Kent did not respond to a request for comment about her amended reports filed with the Campaign Finance and Public Disclosure Board.

Last week, staff at the Campaign Finance and Public Disclosure Board notified Carson the allegations made in the complaint filed against Kent warrant further investigation by the board.
