How and why did a central Minnesota man end up with a human skull in his house?

Meeker County authorities are working to solve that mystery.

In January, police received a call about an unresponsive man at a home in the 66500 block of 340th Street in Forest City Township, according to a news release from Sheriff Brian Cruze.

They found the homeowner, James Webster, 77, who had died of natural causes. Authorities also noted a large amount of marijuana in his home.

After obtaining a search warrant, police found 10 pounds of marijuana, more than $1,000 in cash and a skull in the home.

The Midwest Medical Examiner's Office determined that it was the skull of a man in his mid-40s of white or Hispanic ancestry. Witnesses told authorities that the skull had been at Webster's home for 20 years and that someone had given it to him.

A woman in her 70s who also lived in the home is under investigation in connection with the drug find, authorities said.

The Meeker County Sheriff's Office is asking for anyone with information about the skull to contact their office in Litchfield at 320-693-5400.
