The 2016 Great Outdoors Challenge will be May 13-27; deadline for applications is Oct. 31. The application is in the October issue of the Great Outdoors magazine; digital copies can be ordered attgomagazine.co.uk (use Pocketmags or iTunes). First-time walkers must provide evidence they have sufficient backpacking experience. It is limited to 300 participants, who are chosen by lottery.
Entry fee: $80.
