Identities were released Wednesday of the two people who were fatally shot while in a parked car this week in south Minneapolis.

The victims from the shooting shortly before 2 a.m. Monday were identified by the Hennepin County medical examiner's office as Erin M. Miller, 23, of Minneapolis, and Frank L. Penny, 39, of Brooklyn Center.

No arrests have been made, said police spokesman John Elder, who added that "there is no indication that this was random."

Miller died from a gunshot to the head, while Penny was fatally shot in the torso, the examiner's office said.

Police were on routine patrol when they heard the shots coming from the 2800 block of 15th Avenue S.

Penny was dead when police arrived. Miller died Monday night at Hennepin County Medical Center.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call police at 1-800-222-8477 or text an anonymous tip to CRIMES (274637) and begin the message with: TIP674.
