talkback: did you know that "Idol" makes $8.1 million every half hour? It's TV's biggest money-maker, says Forbes. Second is "Two and a Half Men" with Charlie Sheen - although not for long, he's quitting - and freshly-axed "24" is #3, making $3 mil every 30 minutes, suggesting the show was nixed because of creative exhaustion. They could milk another season out of it if they wish - and the same goes for "Idol," which will probably run until Simon has bought all of Ibiza.

Anyway. Opinions on Aaron Kelly getting cast out? I don't watch the show, but from what I gather the kid is short, says "sir" and "ma'am," and has battled tonsillitis, all of which I can identify with. Weigh in, right here.

As long as we're at it: what did you think of Lady Gaga? Simon calls her "The most relevant pop artist in the world." I have no idea what that means.

FILE -- A rent deposit slot at an apartment complex in Tucker, Ga., on July 21, 2020. As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
