Authorities have identified the motorcyclist who died after clipping the mirror of a fellow rider and crashing west of the Twin Cities on Sept. 3.

Michael Lodermeier, 56, of St. Joseph, Minn., was riding with four other motorcyclists late in the afternoon on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend on Meeker County Hwy. 14 in Darwin Township. He struck another rider's mirror and crashed, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The other rider escaped unscathed, the Sheriff's Office added. Meeker County Sheriff Brian Cruze said that Lodermeier was not wearing a helmet.

An air ambulance took Lodermeier to St. Cloud Hospital, where he died five days later.
