In June 1934, an usually long-lasting tropical storm weaved a contorted and,at times, devastating path from Central America to the eastern United States.Born over the Gulf of Honduras on the 4th of June, the unnamed storm loopedinland, where it unleashed torrential flooding rains and mudslides. The town ofOcotepeque, Honduras, was devastated. In all, Honduras suffered an estimated1,000 to 3,000 deaths.

Having crossed Yucatan, the cyclone entered the Gulf of Mexico on the 12th.

After looping another time, the storm gained Category 1 hurricane strengthbefore a June 16 landfall near Morgan City, La.

On the 19th of June, the storm became extratropical near Virginia.
