Glen Perkins will throw in the bullpen today and, if all goes well, is expected to pitch in a game Thursday or Friday. Perkins' only appearance this spring has been in an exhibition game against the Gophers. Since then, he has been bothered by slight discomfort in his right side.

Josmil Pinto gets the start behind the plate today, catching Phil Hughes. A sore right quad kept Pinto out of the lineup until last week, and now he has to show the club that he's made strides defensively and can hold down the backup catcher's spot.

Righthander Zach Jones, who once hit 100 miles in hour during instructional league, is on the trip as an extra pitcher. It would be nice to see him get in a game.
