The St. Paul-based Hubbard family is still riding high over their decision to pick up the controversial mini-series "The Kennedys" -- although their latest accomplishment is a bit iffy.

"The Kennedys," which ran on the Hubbard-owned ReelzChannel after History Channel dumped it, was recognized Thurssday as Best Historical Drama Production.

"This honor from History Makers International is particularly important because it responds directly to the heart of the controversy that unfairly branded 'The Kennedys' as 'the most radioactive mini-series ever made,'" said Reelz CEO Stan E. Hubbard. "This award is a tremendous honor and validation for the cast, crew and creators who worked so hard and so carefully to get the history right. Each and every one of them went to work every day with the weight of history on their shoulders and still had to endure two years of ridicule and criticism. In the end, this award from History Makers International proves that they got it right."

Whoa! I'm a fan of "The Kennedys" and applaud Reelz for the bold decision to back it, but such bold words for an award we've never heard of? To give you an idea of the magnitude of the win, consider the competition in the category: "Nazi Hunters," Canadian/Brazilian production, and "Mission to Murder Hitler" from Germany.
