A house fire early Saturday claimed the life of a man in central Minnesota.

The blaze was reported shortly before 3 a.m., according to the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office. When deputies arrived at the house, located on Hwy. 7 east of Lake Lillian, a man who lived in the home was unaccounted for. Firefighters later found his body inside the house.

The man's name has not yet been released. There were no other reported injuries, and the cause of the fire is unknown. The Sheriff's Office and the Minnesota Fire Marshal are investigating.

It was the third fire fatality reported in Minnesota in 2018. On Friday, a man and a woman died in a mobile-home fire in Alexandria. The cause of that fire has not yet been determined. However, authorities said that the home did not have a smoke detector.
