Type: Office

Size: 26.1 acres

Future office building: 45,000 square feet

Developer: Tennant Co.

Architect: LHB Architects

Details: The Tennant Co., maker of commercial scrubbers and other cleaning equipment, has unveiled plans to make improvements at its 26-acre Golden Valley campus, possibly including a 45,000-square-foot corporate headquarters building.

The proposal got its first airing before the city's planning commission in October, when the commission approved a measure to create a new planned unit development covering the site at the northwest quadrant of the intersection of Hwys. 100 and 55.

Landscape architect Michael Schroeder of Duluth-based LHB said Tennant is seeking to provide better connections between its current 52-year-old manufacturing/office building and several surrounding properties it has acquired and developed over the years as part of an incremental "One Campus" strategy to accommodate growth.

These are slated to include new pedestrian walkways allowing employees to walk safely between the scattered buildings. There also will be new parking, landscaping and stormwater management.

Tennant also revealed that its plans include a multistory "signature" office building that would become the hub of the campus and would "reflect its corporate identity."

There are no immediate plans to construct the building, city planners said.
