Lot Size: 4.83 acres Developer: Interstate Partners

Details: The Eagan City Council has given its approval for the first new building at the Boulder Lakes Business Park in Eagan since its initial structure was built in 2008.

The Midwest Independent Transmission System Operator, or MISO, has signed a 12-year lease for a new office/data center in the 95-acre, master-planned business park owned by Milwaukee-based Interstate Partners.

Eagan officials this month approved a planned-unit development application from Interstate Partners to build a single-story, 60,721-square-foot building at the triangular-shaped site along Ames Crossing Road.

MISO, based in Carmel, Ind., is moving to the site from its current location on St. Paul's Energy Park Drive, bringing with it about 100 jobs to the Dakota County suburb.

The company operates and monitors electric transmission lines in 13 states and the Canadian province of Manitoba. Its new facility, which will be secured by a decorative steel fence, will house offices, a conference/training center, data center and a control room for its transmission operations.

It marks the second building in Boulder Lakes and the first since a 116,550-square-foot structure was built in 2008. That building is currently occupied by Staywell Health Management and the AllianceOne collection agency.

Interstate Partners says it expects to complete construction of the building shell by the end of March, with interior tenant work to last from April until August 2013, followed by six months of move-in.

The facility is expected to be fully operational by March 1, 2014.
