Details: The final vacant “outlot” at the Dunkirk Square shopping center in Maple Grove is on track to be filled with a new 10,664-square-foot multitenant retail building under plans approved by the city’s planning commission.
Inland Commercial Property Management, which owns the existing Rainbow Foods grocery store and an adjacent 15,000 square feet of retail space there, says it’s hoping for a Nov. 1 groundbreaking for the new building along County Road 30, just west of Interstate 94.
The area represents the eastern half of the Dunkirk Square center — the western half is home to a 130,000-square-foot former Target Greatland store that has been redeveloped by another owner into a heated self-storage facility, a Big Lots store and five outlots hosting service retailers such as Valvoline, Leeann Chin and Verizon.
Inland’s Rick Plessner told the Maple Grove Planning Commission at its Aug. 26 meeting it already has prospective tenants for the new building lined up, potentially including a Hallmark store that is already at the site and would relocate into it, as well as coffee and sandwich shops.
The plans from Paul Meyer Architects show a combination of brick, stone, glass and insulated exterior wall cladding with finished surfaces, known as EIFS.
The Maple Grove panel unanimously passed the proposed changes to the Dunkirk Square planned unit development and sent it along to the City Council for final approval.
