Ari Hoptman has written one of the best shows in the 2015 Fringe. This isn't it. You definitely should check out Hoptman's "The Consolation." You can probably skip this Faustian comedy. Eric Webster is, as usual, a suave and funny performer. Here, he is the Prince of Darkness, convincing two schlubs (Hoptman and Shanan Custer) to sell their souls for worldly happiness. The performers — including Joshua Scrimshaw and Katie Adducci —work really hard but the humor just doesn't take off. This episodic and spotty show just feels underwritten, under-rehearsed and underwhelming. (5:30 p.m. Tue., 8:30 p.m. Wed., 8:30 p.m. Sat.; Theatre in the Round, 245 Cedar Av. S., Mpls.)

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
