Minneapolis police are investigating a fatal shooting in northeast Minneapolis that appears to have been the result of a neighbors' dispute.

Officers were called to the 100 block of 15th Avenue NE., near Main Street just after 8:30 p.m., police spokesman Corey Schmidt said. They found a man lying on the sidewalk with a bullet wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A male suspect approached officers at the scene and was arrested, Schmidt said. Police believe the shooting was the culmination of a dispute between neighbors on 15th Avenue NE., he said. No other suspects are being sought.

Verla Craig, who lives nearby, said she heard two shots at about 8:30. At first, she assumed it was fireworks until she saw police and an ambulance arrive. Craig said the area is generally quiet and peaceful. "The neighborhood is pretty cool," Craig said.

The man's death marks the city's 20th homicide of the year. Earlier in the day, the death of a man shot Sunday in north Minneapolis who died Tuesday marked the 19th.
