Prints on Ice

Opening Friday: Like eggnog, mistletoe and twinkling lights, Highpoint's annual "Prints on Ice" show is a holiday tradition to cherish. Twice each year, the 36 artists who rent space and equipment in the south Minneapolis studio stage a special, curated exhibition and sale of their recent work. On opening night only they offer 20 percent discounts on original lithographs, intaglios, screenprints and monotypes that make perfect holiday gifts for the aesthetes on anyone's list. Made on-site in Highpoint's professional facilities, the prints range from humorous vignettes to meticulously drawn interiors, whimsical sketches, keenly observed North Woods landscapes and subtle abstractions composed of intersecting lines, colors and geometric shapes. Nancy Bolan's "Shelter" is shown here. (Opening reception, 6:30-9 p.m., Friday, free. Highpoint Center for Printmaking, 912 W. Lake St., Mpls. Show ends Jan. 23, free. 612-871-1326 or highpointprintmaking.org.)

FILE -- A rent deposit slot at an apartment complex in Tucker, Ga., on July 21, 2020. As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
