June 10, 2015 at 1:41AM

The man run over and killed in Minneapolis by a motorcyclist who fled the scene late last week has been identified.

Louis D. Chargingbear, 56, was struck about 10:30 p.m. Friday at E. 27th Street and Cedar Avenue S. and died the next day at Hennepin County Medical Center, the medical examiner's office announced Monday.

The motorcyclist fled on southbound Cedar, and there has been no word from police concerning his whereabouts.

Chargingbear, who lived in northeast Minneapolis about 8 miles from the scene, was alert and speaking with officers immediately after being hit, police spokesman John Elder said. The victim's condition soon deteriorated, however, and he died less than 15 hours later.

Police have not released a detailed description of the motorcyclist. The motorcycle was black with high handlebars.

Police are asking anyone with information to call 1-800-222-8477 or 612-692-8477. Information can also be texted to 274637. Messages should start with TIP674.
