The Minnetonka Historical Society will hold its annual Victorian holiday open house next Sunday, Dec. 1, from 1 to 4 p.m.

The free event will occur at the historic Burwell House, located at 13209 E. McGinty Road.

Visitors can take a self-guided tour of the house, which will be trimmed with Victorian decorations.

Refreshments will be served.

The home was built in the early 1880s by Charles Burwell, who managed the Minnetonka Mills Co., a short-lived flour milling firm located on Minnehaha Creek.

The city purchased the house in 1970. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The home is in the Italianate style and contains many of the original Burwell furnishings. It is open in summer for tours, but closed in winter except for the open house.

Parking near the house is limited, but additional parking is available across Plymouth Road at St. David's Family Resource Center.
