Oh, Kanye, what were you thinking? That's the Minnesota Nice way to sum up the collective reaction Monday to singer Kanye West's outburst at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night.

But West's fellow celebs were not so nice about West ruining Taylor Swift's moment onstage for winning best female video of the year for "You Belong With Me." West grabbed the mic away from the 19-year-old country sensation to say Beyoncé should have won instead.

Celebs weren't going to let West have the last word.

On Twitter, Katy Perry used a choice epithet for West followed by: "It's like u stepped on a kitten."

Pink's tweet was perhaps the most blunt: "Kanye west is the biggest piece of [expletive] on earth. Quote me."

Country singer Kellie Pickler tweeted to Swift, "Tator Tot, you handled yourself with Grace," and, after something unprintable, told West: "don't mess w/my lil sis!!"

John Mayer also tweeted his support to Swift: "Big love to my girl @taylorswift13. A class act."

Kelly Clarkson went to her blog to lash out at West: "What happened to you as a child?? Did you not get hugged enough?? Something must have happened to make you this way and I think we're all just curious as to what would make a grown man go on national television and make a talented artist, let alone teenager, feel like [expletive]."

She ended with: "Taylor Swift, you outsell him ... that's why he's bitter. You know I love your work! Keep it up girl!"

Comedian Russell Brand, who hosted the VMAs, looked like the only celeb jumping to West's defense Monday. According to People.com, Brand told Ryan Seacrest on his morning radio show, "I know Kanye, and I know he's a nice bloke. We all make mistakes in life."

West might have been feeling the bad vibes because he posted on his blog Monday afternoon: "I feel like Ben Stiller in 'Meet the Parents' when he messed up everything and Robert De Niro asked him to leave... That was Taylor's moment and I had no right in any way to take it from her. I am truly sorry."

Swift might have the last word on the matter on ABC's "The View" this morning.
