An update from MnDOT: The closure won't begin until Wednesday. Here is the original post.

The ramp from Hilton Trail to westbound Hwy. 36 will close Tuesday and be shut down until April 29, the Minnesota Department of Transportation said.

Crews will be finishing work on the interchange over the next six weeks. Construction started last year.

The $13.8 millon project, which included building roundabouts on either side of Hwy. 36, is aimed at improving traffic flow on the highway and surrounding streets, including Hilton Trail, Highlands Traila nd DeMontreville Trail. It's also meant to reduce the amount of traffic cutting through residential areas.

When it is complete this summer, Hwy. 36 will be a "limited access freeway" for a 2-mile stretch east of I-694 with no full access at grade interchanges.

During the ramp closure, here is the posted detour:

Motorists are advised to follow the posted detour using 60th Street North/Frontage Road, DeMontreville Trail, and westbound Hwy 36.

In a related closure, westbound Hwy 36 betweenDeMontreville Trail and 694 will also be reduced to a single lane from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. as crews move equipment into place and set up a safe work zone.
