High school champions set to be crowned this week

This week features state tournaments in softball, boys' tennis and track and field.

The first of two weeks of high school spring tournaments begins Tuesday. Champions will be crowned in softball, boys' tennis and track and field. Tournaments for baseball, golf and lacrosse are next week. This week's events:

BOYS' TENNIS

When: Tuesday-Friday

Where: Class 2A is at Baseline Tennis Center at the University of Minnesota. Class 1A is at Reed-Sweatt Family Tennis Center in south Minneapolis.

What: Team preliminaries Tuesday, finals Wednesday. Individual preliminaries Thursday, finals Friday.

TRACK AND FIELD

When: Friday and Saturday

Where: Klas Field, Hamline University

What: Mostly preliminaries in Class 2A and 1A Friday except for finals in the 3,200-meter run and some field events. Finals in track events Saturday, as well as preliminaries and finals in field events.

SOFTBALL

When: Thursday and Friday

Where: Caswell Park, North Mankato

What: Quarterfinals and semifinals Thursday in Class 4A, 3A, 2A and 1A. Championship games on Friday.
