Artis Hicks' day-long visit with the Washington Redskins ended on a successful note as he agreed to a three-year contract that will be worth a maximum of $9 million.

Hicks, who spent the past four seasons with Minnesota, is expected to get a chance to compete for the starting job at right guard. He came to the Vikings as their starting right guard and played that spot in 2006 and the first part of 2007 before Anthony Herrera took over. As mentioned, the Vikings can now sign two unrestricted free agents.

Hicks' potential replacement on the roster probably would be in line to get a first-year deal in the neighborhood of $3 million.
