The Minnetonka High School career of athletic director/boys' basketball coach John Hedstrom, who was placed on administrative leave for unknown reasons in mid-January, officially ended Thursday night.

At its regular meeting, the Minnetonka School Board accepted Hedstrom's resignation as assistant principal for activities and head boys' basketball coach. The resignation is effective immediately.

A statement from the school district said, "The District is expected to post an opening for activities director in the near future and an interim plan for administration of the athletics and activities program will be announced soon. The District is committed to providing a seamless transition for students in our athletics and activities programs."

The reasons for Hedstrom's exit remain unknown.
