HONOLULU — Hawaiian Airlines is adding flights between Oakland and Hawaii to give San Francisco Bay Area travelers more options.
Starting next year, the Honolulu-based airline will fly between Oakland and Lihue on Kauai island three times a week during the summer months.
The airline said Thursday it will also begin a new summer service between Oakland and Kona on the Big Island four times a week.
In January, the airline will increase the frequency of its direct flights between Oakland and Honolulu to daily from the current four days a week.
Kauai Mayor Bernard Carvalho, Jr. thanked Hawaiian for its commitment to Kauai. He says he looks forward to more direct flights in the future.
