Vikings wide receiver Percy Harvin was a surprise addition to the injury report Thursday after being limited in practice by a hamstring issue.

Harvin, who battled a hip injury earlier in the season, wasn't limited on Wednesday and has recently talked about how good he feels. Harvin was on the field for the first portion of practice when the media is allowed to watch but clearly the Vikings aren't going to take any chances with the speedster if his hamstring is hurting even a little bit.

The Vikings also added offensive lineman Ryan Cook to the injury report Thursday, meaning they now have a season-high 12 players listed. Safety Husain Abdullah (concussion) was the only one on the list who did not take part in any of Thursday's session.

Tight end Jim Kleinsasser (groin) and cornerback Lito Sheppard (hand) returned on a limited basis after sitting out Wednesday. Vikings coach Brad Childress said he "doesn't think there is any doubt" Kleinsasser will play on Sunday night against the Packers.

Limited for a second consecutive day were: cornerback Chris Cook (knee); offensive lineman Chris DeGeare (ankle); linebacker E.J. Henderson (knee); center John Sullivan (calf); and quarterback Brett Favre (ankle, right elbow). Defensive end Brian Robison (ankle) and defensive tackle Letroy Guion (toe) took part in all of Thursday's practice after being limited a day earlier.

The Packers also have 12 players on their injury report. Mark Craig provides an update right here.

A couple other odds and ends:

  • Chris Cook expressed optimism before practice that he would play Sunday. Asked about what type of progress Cook is making afterward, Childress said: "I wouldn't have said it after yesterday's practice. I thought today was a little bit better just based on what I looked at. I will go in and look at it a little bit more. But, yeah, I'd say he's making strides."
  • Childress said Sullivan and Jon Cooper are taking just about equal reps at center and that the coaching staff is getting them both ready for Sunday. It wouldn't be surprising if Cooper starts for a second consecutive game. Sullivan, injured on the Vikings' first play from scrimmage in Week 3 against Detroit, said he "feels good" when asked if he could play.
