Just got my new Lund Pro V GL out on the water last week out on Francis Case reservoir in South Dakota. Man, what a ride and with the new MinnKota I-Pilot Terrova, is it so easy to manuever and control! I was out there helping out with the Scheel's University where they bring a whole bunch of sales associates out on the water for training.

If you haven't heard, the I-Pilot is a remote control device which works with the Terrova and Power Drives. It has a ton of new features, like Spot Lock, Recordable tracks, Advanced Auto Pilot, and Cruise Control, in addition to the traditional Co-pilot features like left/right, speed up/down. It actually steers the boat by itself once you have given it a recordable track or pressed the Spot Lock button. Pretty cool technology.

As for the fishing on Francis Case, the water is high and the fish are on the move. It was pretty easy to catch a limit and it seems like the fish on average are larger than in years past. The shallow water pitching jigs bite was tough around Chamberlain, but lights out further south by Kiner's bluffs. Trolling Lindy Shadlings on leadcore was the ticket for around town. Water temps were in the low 50's.

I also got a report that the bite has picked up on Lake Sharpe, which is the reservoir above Francis Case. Limits are easy by pitching jigs on the shallow sand bars below the city of Pierre.

Well, it sure was fun, even though it was a work trip (okay... someone has to do it). I hope all of you get a chance to get out soon. Minnesota walleye opener is right around the corner.
