Maybe that mega-hit wasn't such a big deal after all.

Belgian-born Australian electro-pop star Gotye's Aug. 26 concert at Target Center has been relocated to Myth nightclub in Maplewood. All tickets to the original location will be honored, but since Myth is a general-admission venue, there will be no reserved seating. Tough luck if you got front-row seats. Refunds will also be offered starting Aug. 10 at point of purchase.

The press release for the switcheroo explicitly starts out with the phrase, "Due to reasons beyond the artist's control," but it never states what the reasons are. Slow ticket sales certainly seems like a plausible one. The release also says that new tickets will be on sale for the show, so no more than 3,000 tickets have been sold at Target Center. Gotye was to perform in the so-called U.S. Bank Theater at Target Center configuration, which basically means the arena is cut in half with curtains.

Ironically, his prior show in April – just before "Somebody That I Used to Know" went to No. 1 – also changed locations, in that case moving from the Varsity Theater to the thrice-bigger Epic nightclub, which he sold out. The single is still holding strong at No. 5 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart.
