Wagner, Bell lead U to opener

Preview: The first-ever meeting between the two. Lehigh was picked seventh in the Patriot League preseason poll. Lehigh was 10-20 last season but routinely started five underclassmen — two juniors and three freshmen.

Players to watch: Gophers senior Carlie Wagner, who led the Gophers in scoring last season (19.1 points per game) was named to the Preseason All-Big Ten team. Junior Kenisha Bell is one of 20 players named to the watch list for the Nancy Lieberman Award, given to the nation's top point guard. Bell averaged 16.1 points and 4.2 assists last season. Lehigh senior guard Quinci Mann, who was first-team All-Patriot League the past two seasons, averaged 15.4 points per game last season. Sophomore guard Hannah Hedstrom, from Minnetonka, averaged 4.4 points and 3.5 assists last season.
