"They bounced back from a pretty awful two games, and they were very resilient," coach Pam Borton said of her team, "and I thought everybody stepped up and made some easy shots inside."

The Gophers turned a 38-34 halftime deficit into a 63-53 lead by hitting 11 of its first 13 to shots in the second half, forcing a Michigan timeout with 11:19 remaining.

It was a breakout game for the sophomore Bailey, who played 34 minutes with starting point guard Shayne Mullaney sitting out for the second time in three games because of concussion symptoms. Bailey was 6-for-8 from the field — 4-for-5 from three-point range — and had a team-high six assists.

Banham bounced back from a nine-point game against Iowa, shooting 7-for-12 from the field, including 4-for-6 from beyond the arc. She and Sari Noga played the entire 40 minutes.

The Gophers ended a two-game losing streak and won their first Big Ten road game of the season. Kayla Hirt started for the first time since the season opener in place of Micaëlla Riché. Freshman Stabresa McDaniel made her first career start in place of Mullaney but played only six minutes.

Michigan (14-8, 5-4) lost back-to-back games for the first time this season. Freshman guard Siera Thompson had 19 points for the Wolverines but only three after halftime.
