Northwestern defeated Wisconsin 76-72 in overtime in a first-round game between the No. 12 and No. 13-seeded teams in the Big ten women's basketball tournament.

Minnesota will face Northwestern in the second round of the tournament. The game will start at about 1:15 p.m. and will be televised by BTN.

Former Hopkins star Nia Coffey scored 18 points for the Wildcats before fouling out with about three minutes left in the game.

The Gophers, seeded fifth in the tournament, defeated Northwestern twice during the regular season -- 95-92 on January 20 at Williams Arena and 112-106 in double-overtime at Northwestern on Feb. 7. It was in the latter game when Rachel Banham set school and Big ten records by scoring 60 points.
