Two guard-led teams meet for just second time

Preview: This game is part of the Lady Rebel Roundup in Las Vegas. Wake Forest (2-2) is coming off a 65-51 loss at Rutgers on Sunday. The Demon Deacons, picked 12th in the ACC preseason poll, were 16-16 last season and went 1-1 in the WNIT. The Gophers (5-0) are coming off a 74-62 comeback victory over Xavier at home on Wednesday. The Gophers, who trailed 40-32 at halftime, outscored Xavier 42-22 in the second half.

Players to watch: Senior G Amber Campbell leads Wake Forest in scoring (12 points per game). Sophomore F Tyra Whitehead is averaging 11.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. Junior G Ariel Stephenson scored a career-high 25 points against Rutgers. G Carlie Wagner scored a season-high 24 points to lead the Gophers vs. the Musketeers. Junior G Kenisha Bell added 20 points — 15 in the second half — and seven assists.

Numbers: Wagner is tied for third on the Gophers' all-time three-point field goal list with 216. This is just the second meeting between the two programs. The Demon Deacons defeated the Gophers 82-65 on Dec. 1, 2011 in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Injuries: Junior F Elisa Penna, named to the preseason All-ACC team and an Italian national team member, has missed Wake Forest's first four games because of an undisclosed injury.
