The Gophers soccer team won its fifth game in a row Sunday, beating Purdue 2-0 at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium.

The Gophers (9-2-3, 5-1-1 Big Ten) got goals in the second half from their two leading scorers and shut out a Big Ten opponent for the first time this season.

Senior Sydney Squires scored three minutes into the second half, her 13th goal of the season, most in the Big Ten.

Senior Julianna Gernes scored the second goal on a corner kick taken by April Bockin. It was Gernes' seventh goal of the season, and it was Bockin's 11th assist of the season, most in the NCAA.

Wrestlers win berths

Gophers sophomore Mitch McKee and former Gopher Michael Kroells won spots on the U23 Team USA roster for the world championships set for Nov. 21-26 in Poland. McKee won at 61 kilograms in team trials at Rochester, Minn., and Kroells qualified at 125 kilograms.
