Erik Van Rooyen of the Gophers is tied for second in the individual competition at 1 over par with Brian Campbell of Illinois. The leader is Thomas Pieters, another Illini golfer, at 6 under after three consecutive rounds of 70. Van Rooyen has shot rounds of 70, 73 and 74.

Tied for fifth is Robert Bell, another Gopher. He is two shots behind Van Rooyen at 3 over par.

• The Gophers are eighth in the women's conference meet, at the Donald Ross Golf Course in French Lick. They are 41 over par. The top two golfers are Carmen Laguna and Anna Laorr, tied for 21st at 8-over 152.

Men lose in Big Ten tennis semifinals

The second-seeded Gophers lost 4-3 to Michigan in the semifinals of the Big Ten men's tennis tournament in Columbus, Ohio. Minnesota (14-10) took the doubles point but lost four of the six singles matches. Leandro Toledo and Jack Hamburg were the only winners, at second and third singles, respectively. … Senior Rok Bonin and teammate Toledo, a sophomore, were named to the all-Big Ten first team in men's tennis.

Baseball team batters Iowa

Matt Halloran had two hits and four RBI and Ryan Abrahamson went 4-for-5 with one RBI as the Gophers beat Iowa 10-2 in Big Ten baseball in Iowa City. Minnesota (25-14, 8-3) had 15 hits, eight of them doubles. Halloran had two of those doubles, Abrahamson three.

Softball team walks over Ohio State

Third baseman Kaitlyn Richardson was 2-for-3 with two RBI to lead the Gophers to a 7-2 victory over Ohio State in Big Ten softball at Columbus. Madie Eckstrom hit a two-run homer in the third inning for the Gophers (30-15, 11-5 Big Ten), who had 10 hits and 11 walks.

Gophers 1-2 in 800 at Drake

Travis Burkstrand and Harun Abda finished first and second in the 800-meter run at the Drake Relays in Des Moines. Burkstrand won in 1 minute, 49.32 seconds. Abda's time was 1:49.67. Oladipo Fagbemi was third in the triple jump, going 51-1¾.

• The Gophers won the women's distance medley relay at the Drake Relays in 11 minutes, 6.47 seconds, a school record. Relay members were Katie Hill, Alena Brooks, Te'Shon Adderly and Laura Docherty. Katie Moraczewski took second in the 3,000 steeplechase in 10:15.37.
