Gophers get baseball sweep

The Gophers baseball team used a three-run fourth inning to erase a deficit and defeat Western Illinois 5-3 at the Metrodome.

The Gophers (10-5) swept the three-game series, their first sweep of the season.

Connor Schaefbauer was 2-for-3 with two RBI, and reliever Lance Thonvold got the win with 3⅔ hitless innings that included six strikeouts.

The Gophers rowing team won four races against Tulsa and single races against Kansas and Kansas State to conclude competition at the Oklahoma Invite on the Oklahoma River in Oklahoma City.

Senior catcher Kari Dorle hit her second home run of the season, helping the Gophers softball team defeat Florida Gulf Coast 4-1 in the final game of the Stanford Classic in Palo Alto, Calif.
