In 17 previous home games, the Gophers had played 51 periods. And just once had they scored three goals in a period.

That happened again on Saturday, not once but twice. The U of M rolled over Denver 7-3, scoring three goals in the first period and three in the second to take a 6-0 lead.

So was this a mirage or the start of something with six games in the regular season?

Impossible to say. This team plays well one game, not so well the next often the same weekend.

On Saturday, they looked like a fearsome team from the past, steam-rolling anybody who comes to Mariucci. DU happened to be the opponent.

The third line was one that played well. Patrick White and Taylor Matson scored goals and Nate Condon had two assists.

Jake Hansen, a second line winger for the Gophers, received a a 5-minute major for fighting in the third period and game disqualification, meaning he will have to miss the next game.
