Trying to get back on track in 2019

Preview: Both teams are looking for their first victory of the new year, in a game livestreamed on BTN Plus. The No. 23 Gophers (12-4, 1-4 Big Ten) are coming off an 81-63 loss to Iowa on Monday at home. It was their fourth consecutive loss. Their last victory was 74-56 over Wisconsin in their conference opener on Dec. 28. The Badgers (10-7, 1-4) are coming of a 75-68 loss at Indiana on Sunday. In their game before that, the Badgers lost at Iowa, 71-53.

Players to watch: Gophers senior G Kenisha Bell scored 22 on Monday — the eighth time she has scored at least 20 points. Junior F Taiye Bello had her seventh double-double of the season vs. Iowa. F Marsha Howard, a senior, leads the Badgers in scoring (12.8) and rebounding (9.7). She has had seven double-doubles this season. F Imani Lewis, a freshman, is averaging 12.4 points and 8.3 rebounds. G Suzanne Gilreath, a junior from Brooklyn Park, is averaging 5.7 points. Gilreath led the Badgers with nine points in the first meeting between the two.

Numbers: The Gophers have won 12 in a row against the Badgers, five in Madison.

Injuries: Badgers F Courtney Fredrickson, a junior from Minnetonka, is out for the season after suffering a knee injury in November. Badgers F Carmen Backes, a freshman from Chisago Lakes, is redshirting after suffering a knee injury in high school.
