Some aspiring performers had their Rachel Berry moment in the spotlight this week.

Before the Ivey Awards, which honors the local theater community, the next generation of Minnesota talent had a chance to show off their pipes at a "Glee"-inspired karaoke pre-party.

Teenagers took to the Hennepin Stages (just across the street from the main event) to belt out everything from "Beat It" to "Until the End of Time" to "Your Love Is My Drug."

Celena Morgan of Woodbury, who's currently performing in the Children's Theatre Company's production of "Dr. Seuss' The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins," didn't grab the mike at the pre-party. But she got an eighth-row seat for the Iveys, where she saw her mug on the big screen during a slide show of theater productions around the Twin Cities.

"I wasn't expecting it all," she said. "We freaked out a little bit."
