A 14-year-old girl was shot in the chest late Saturday night in St. Paul, according to authorities.

Police were originally called to the 1800 block of Minnehaha Avenue E. around 11:40 p.m. because of a report of a shooting.

A group of youth were dancing in a parking lot near the corner when a vehicle drove by, a man got out and shot into the crowd before leaving, said Sgt. Paul Paulos, St. Paul Police spokesman.

Nobody else was hit but the girl, who Paulos on Monday said was alive.

Authorities are investigating whether she was the intended target.

No arrests have been made.
