A suspect was identified and in custody Wednesday after a 17-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in a Pine City park.
The teen was at a playground in Robinson Park in Pine City around 9 p.m. Tuesday when a man approached and asked her numerous times to get into his car. When she refused, the man removed her pants and assaulted her, authorities said.
The victim said the man told her to be quiet when a person who was in the area yelled at them, said Pine County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Paul Widenstrom. It was not clear how close that person was. After the assault, the man took off in a light four-door car, authorities said.
